摘要
This research is based on organizational ecology theory to model the stochastic process of organizational mortality. The sample includes yearly data are collected from 1996 to 2002 to analyze the significant determinants of the organizational mortality by using a Gompertz regression model. There are four major findings:(1)Organizational mortality rate increase with organizational age.(2)There is an U shape between mortality rate and population density. At low levels of density,a negative relationship is found between mortality rate and population density. The mortality rate decreases as population density increases,at least up to some density, after which the mortality rate increases.(3)Organizational mortality rate has a positive relationship with the number of new establishments in the previous year.(4)Larger Organizations present stronger competition pressure.
