Naturally occurring CD4^+CD25^+ regulatory T ceils (nTreg) is a functionally distinct and mature subpopulation of T ceils developed from thymus, nTreg can suppress or control immune responses and maintain self-tolerance through down-regulating function and proliferation of immune ceils. From recent research, we found nTreg can also induce specific immune tolerance to nonself antigens, such as transplant alloantigen. This review will give you some information on the development of nTreg in its molecular markers, tolerance mechanisms, and its function in establishing transplantation tolerance.
