On the Inheritance of Painting Skills in Chinese Landscape Painting

山水画经历了上千年的历史发展,形成了完整的笔墨技法体系。纵览历代山水画作,虽风格不一,但笔墨程式大同小异,师承之脉絡清晰可辨,千变万化不离其宗,表现出强烈的中国山水画的特质。古代大师大多都是从笔墨技法的学习研究入手,由师承而后体察、感悟大自然,获得心灵启示,创新技法,形成新的艺术风格。而笔墨技法的承袭,始终贯穿于山水画的发展过程中。

With the development of over thousand years, Chinese landscape painting has formed its integrated system of painting skills. The inheritance of the painting skills, which characterize the Chinese landscape painting, can be clearly seen from its similar formula in the landscape painting. For most of the famous ancient painters, their new art styles were usually derived from the study of the past painting skills, of themselves or of others. Therefore we can say that the techniques of painting have al ways been followed through in the development of Chinese landscape painting.
