论英译中国诗歌的可译性限度

On the Translatability Limitation of Chinese Poetry

翻译实践表明,译文和原文之间始终存在着这样或那样的距离。从翻译学角度来看,诗歌是可译性最小的一种文学形式。本文试从诗歌的三要素:音美、形美、意美对英译诗歌的可译性限度进行探讨。

The translation practice indicates that there will always be distance between the translation and the original. From the point of translation theory, poetry is a kind of literary form whose translatability is the least. This paper tries to probe into the translatability limitation of Chinese poetry from the three essential factors： melopoeia, phanopoeia, logopoeia, with the aim of throwing out a minnow to catch a whale.
