The Application of CP and PP to College English Teaching

合作原则与礼貌原则是人们在交际活动中应当遵守的语用原则。把这些原则用于大学英语教学中,可以提高学生的学习及语言运用能力,同时礼貌是制约语用的关键,教师应通过礼貌原则的教授来提高学生的语言素质。

People should adhere to the cooperative principle and politeness principle in communication. This paper attempts to study the violation of the cooperative principle and the observance of politeness principle by analyzing some examples from college English books and comes to the conclusion that students can achieve much after applying both principles to English teaching. This paper also, attempts to prove that politeness is a key factor in communication and teachers should improve students＇ language ability through teaching the politeness principle.
