Sense and Sensibility——Double Construction of the New Morality of May 4th Movement

近年来有关“五四”新道德的争论存在片面化极端化倾向,指责新道德缺少形而上建设是错误的,但是仅仅肯定“五四”形而下建设的做法也是不可取的。“五四”新道德在理性精神和人本主义思想的共同影响下,既注重以人为本的人类主义和个人主义,又突出新道德的现代理性和超越精神,它是在形而下和形而上两个向度展开的双重建设。

The arguments for the new morality of May 4th Movement have had some unilateral and extreme tendencies these years. It is wrong to say that the new morality is short of moral metaphysics or merely to affirm the phisics （xing er xia）. Under the influence of the spirit of ration and humanism, the new morality paid attention to humanism and individualism while emphasizing on modern ration and the spirit of metaphysics. So the new moral construction has two directions which are the phisical （xing er xia） and metaphysical （xing er shang）.
