Through cultural analysis and textual analysis, the author attempts to provide some new interpretation and evaluation of the absence of women in Robinson Crusoe and Lord of the Flies. The absence of women in the afore-mentioned novels reflects Defoe＇ s and Golding＇ s different viewpoints towards women and it is one of the most outstanding features of Island Literature. The author holds that the absence can deepen the motifs and help describe the characters more vividly. It is one part of narrative techniques in the writings.
