An Analysis of Women Characters' Loss of Identity——From Letters from a Woman Stranger to Mother's Lover

女人在情感世界中往往会遗失自我。这一方面与性别有关,而另一方面却是价值观念的潜移默化,是东西方文化对以男性为社会生活主导的渲染。丧失自我的女人不仅遗失了自己,而且并未因此而达到超然的存在,而是停留在单恋的困窘和空虚的生命中,最终失去生命。

Women are easy to drift into sentiment and lose their identities. This can be attributed to the sex distinction and to the influence of values, which emphasizes, in both eastern and western cultures, the dominant role of man in the society. Women who lose identities can not achieve transcendence. Instead, they are haunted and trapped by rejected love and the vanity of life, and eventually, lose their lives.
