This essay has elaborated the main points of pragmatics, the relevance theory and the relevance-theoretic comprehension procedure put forward by Sperber ＆ Wilson. Based on some ideas from contemporary pragmatic studies and computer science, the author has probed the problem from an unconventional perspective and proposed a somewhat different interpretation, which holds that every interpreting hypothesis that occurs to the listener＇s mind is probably to be processed by the brain＇ s inferring system, and there might be such situation when more than one interpretations are taken as inferential result.
