汉语古诗英译的实用性——兼谈许渊冲先生的“形美”

On the Practicality of C-E Translation of Classic Chinese Poems

为使中国古典诗歌在英译中占有一席之地,译界不少人作出巨大的努力,硕果累累;但在充分保证译文“音美”、“意美”的前提下能否在真正意义上实现“形美”似乎是前人未曾谈到过的话题。因此就如何方便实际场合中的诗歌(句)引用作一管窥,具有一定的现实意义。

To guarantee a place for classic Chinese poetry translated into English, quite a number of people in the translation circles have done a great and fruitful job; yet there remains a topic seldom talked about in the past, that is： How to make a C- E poem or part of it a good quotation for a right occasion without losing its ＂beauty in form＂ in a true sense besides beauty in sound and sense？ The author of this article intends to share his view by means of some examples.
