摘要
《红字》中的圣经意象既反映了小说的主题也反映了宗教对作者的影响。通过17世纪中叶北美殖民地HESTER和D IMMSEADLE的恋爱悲剧,霍桑试图唤醒人们对《圣经》中原罪和惩戒的再认识,表达了对清教偏见和苛刻的不满,尤其批判了其对人性的戕害,所以研究《红字》中的《圣经》意象具有很大的意义。
The images in The Scarlet Letter not only reflect the theme, but also show the religious influence on the author. By the tragic story, Hawthorne wanted to evoke people＇s re - recognition to sin and punishment. He expressed his negative attitude to Puritanism prejudice and grimness, especially his strong unsatisfaction to the punishment of public explosion. So there were a lot of benefits to study the images in the Bible in The Scarlet Letter in order to learn this point.
