As an important ability in language learning, reading comprehension plays an important role in English language teaching. Whether a reading test can fully reflect a student＇s real reading ability is the most important criterion in evaluating the test. As one of the most important components of TEM - 4, the reliability and validity of the reading paper will directly affect that of the whole test. By analyzing the reading paper of TEM - 4, the author points out its negative backwash effects on the teaching of English reading. In the end, some suggestions are put forward for reference.
