The assessment of the effectiveness of odor-reducing textiles is described. The SMOG method to assess the effectiveness of odor-controlling textile fabrics working with an adsorption-desorption-equilibrium and its enhanced version for the direct screening of photo-catalytic materials, e. g. titanium dioxide （TiO2） , with respect to their odor-reducing potential are discussed in detail.
