Essence of Zhuism in ＂Outline for Zhuism＂

钱穆先生为《朱子新学案》所撰写的《朱子学提纲》是指导世人学习朱子之学的重要文献,对朱子学之大体与各精华做了概论。在朱子学精神方面,钱穆认为朱子尊德性而道问学,致广大而尽精微,极高明而到中庸,四通六辟,成此一家。一面固最能创新义,一面又最能守传统。既明得前人本意,又发挥自己新意;既汇纳群流,又扩其范围;既为精粗具到,又采撷精华,由此而成为集儒家之大成者。

The book, ＂Outline for Zhuism＂ , is an important literature to guide people to study Zhuism, which was written for Academic Biography of Zhuism by Qian Mu. He made an introduction to its outline and its cream. About the spirit of Zhuism, Qian Mu thinks that Zhu Zi respects both moral character and scholarship, widespread, profound and abstruse, and brilliant enough, and extends in all directions, establishing his own school. On the one hand, it is the most innovative; on the other hand, it is the most conservative tradition. Zhu Zi understands the true meaning of pre-scholar, as well as develops his own new idea, both collecting many kinds of ideas of every school and expanding its scope. It is profound and all-included, as well as collecting essence： all of these make him being the culmination.
