特优５５９系江苏沿海地区农科所用提纯的龙特甫Ａ与盐恢５５９配制育成的杂交中籼新组合。该组合在１９９３～１９９５年江苏省和全国区试中，产量连居第一，１９９６年４月，经江苏省农作物品种审定委员会审定通过。预计“九五”

Teyou 599, a new combination of medium indica hybrid rice, was bred from the cross of Longtepu A and Yanhui 559 at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Jiangsu Coastal Areas. Its restorer line, Yanhui 559, was developed from the cross of Teqing and Minghui 75. The yield of the combination ranked first successively in regional trials undertaken in Jiangsu Province and all over the country from 1993 to 1995. In April, 1996, it was approved by Jiangsu Crop Variety Examining & Approving Committee. The planting area was 3 000 hectares in 1995 and rapidly expanded to 30 000 hectares in 1996. It is expected that Teyou 559 would have a great potential for use in the medium indica hybrid rice growing area of the country during the Ninth Five-year Period (1996～2000).
