现代主义艺术的历史是对艺术“精英性”追求的历史,后现代主义艺术表面上看是对“精英性”的反叛,倡导的是艺术的大众化。然而,后现代主义艺术的特征如商品性、娱乐性、复制性、反文化性无一不是现代主义艺术特征的又一种表现形式。表面上不同的叛逆暗含着质的共同性。后现代主义艺术仍然是以现代主义的方式、以更隐密的手段、更大的密度、更小的冲击力继续着向权力中心的靠拢。

The history of modernist art is a history of pursing the ＂elitism＂ of art. Postmodernism seems to revolt against the ＂elitism＂ and promote the popularity of art. But, postmodernist characteristic, such as.＂ characteristic of commodity, amusement, copy and counter-culture all are another form of modernist art＇s characteristic. The seemingly-different revolt implies the general character at heart. The postmodernism is still drawing close to the power centre with a more modernist and hidden means, concentrated density and less force of impact.
