Women's Belief in Taoism in Tang Dynasty

唐代道教盛行,涌现出大量的道教信仰者,妇女群体就是其中一支。她们来自社会各个阶层,信仰道教的原因各式各样。由于道教自身的局限,信仰道教的妇女人数相对于佛教是比较少的。即便如此,妇女群体尤其是后妃公主信仰道教,为唐代的一种社会现象,值得研究。

In Tang Dynasty Taoism was prevailing and a lot of people converted to Taoism. Women were part of them, who came from different social strata with different reasons. Limited by the Taoism itself, the number of women believers in Taoism was quite smaller than that in Buddhism. Nevertheless, it was a social phenomenon that women, esp. some ladies from royal family, believed in Taoism, which is worth studying.
