Metaphorical Thinking and Translation of Chinese Idioms

汉语习语中存在着大量隐喻。以相关的隐喻理论为根据,以汉语习语为研究对象,阐述了隐喻与民族思维方式之间的关系,分析了汉语习语中隐喻思维的模式,并提出了留存直译法、化解意译法、修改简化法、意象转换法四种翻译策略。

Metaphors are abundant in Chinese idioms. With theories on metaphor as its basis and Chinese idioms as its subject, this essay aims to illustrate the relations between metaphor and national thinking patterns. The emphasis of this essay is the analysis of the thinking patterns in Chinese idioms and the four corresponding translating strategies.
