This thesis briefly introduces the basic theory of transitivity analysis and ergativity analysis, probes the application of transitivity analysis and ergativity analysis in textual understanding, and points out that transitivity analysis and ergativity analysis are effective in understanding the deep meaning of the text and the author＇s viewpoint and ideological meaning. Moreover, they are complementary to each other in textual understanding.
