传统的观点认为,“蚤”是本有其字的假借,它的本字“早”产生于“蚤”之前。近十几年提出的观点认为,“早”产生于“蚤”之后,“蚤”是本无其字的假借。作者经过研究认为,“蚤”仅仅是个有本字的假借字,至于它的本字产生先后并不能确切地断定。

The traditional view holds that Zao(蚤)is a substitute for an original character Zao(早).The view in the past ten years is that Zao(早) developed after Zao(蚤).The authorbelieves that the former holds true,but it is not certain when the original character came into being.
