On Three Questions of Ideological Connotation in Romance of Three Kingdoms

本文就有关《三国演义》思想内涵的三个重要问题进行辨析,明确指出:(1)谋略固然是《演义》极具光彩的重要特色,但《演义》的主要精髓,应该是“向往国家统一,歌颂‘忠义’英雄”的主题。(2)“桃园结义”的核心价值,不是“不求同年同月同日生,只愿同年同月同日死”的哥们义气;而是“上报国家,下安黎庶”的奋斗目标,应予基本肯定。(3)忠贞是诸葛亮的重要品格,但这不是不分青红皂白的“愚忠”,而是以帝王师的身份,忠于自己的理想和事业,自有其积极意义。

This paper attempts to discuss three important questions about the ideological connotation expressed in Romance of Three Kingdoms, pointing out clearly the following three facts： 1） In spite of the fact that stratagem is an important feature of the Romance, the essence of the novel should be ＂longing for the unification of the state, and paying a tribute to the theme of loyal heroes＂. 2） The kernel value of fraternization is not just personal loyalty but the striving goal of ＂devotion to the state and contribution to the people＂ which should be advocated basically. 3） Loyalty is an important personality of Zhuge Hang, but it does not mean that he is blindly loyal. As a military counselor of the emperor, he is just loyal to his ideal and career, which is of positive significance.
