Semi solid metal technology is characterized by many advantages and believed as the key metal manufacture technology in 21 century by specialist. This paper introduced the forming process of semi--solid metal, production methods of billets, numerical simulation, and the study and application situation at home and abroad. The problem and research emphasis in the development of semi--solid metal forming are also discussed.
