This paper expounds the composition, features and current development and utilization of the engineering archives of the institutions and enterprises, and in the light of the problems existing in the development and utilization of the engineering design archives, puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions on increasing effectively the utilization ratio of the engineering design archives.
