试谈隐喻翻译的异化与归化——以《苔丝》的张译本和孙译本为例

On the Dissimilarization and Classification of Metaphor Translation——Examlified from Zhang's Chinese Version and Sun's Chinese Version of Tess of the D'urbervilles

隐喻既是一个语言意义上的概念,同时也是一个文化范畴里的概念。从异化与归化的角度,通过在语言与文化两个层面上分析探讨隐喻翻译的方法及翻译策略,可以得出在语言层面上隐喻翻译可适度归化,以增强译文的可读性;在文化层面上隐喻翻译异化的尺度可稍大一些,以尽可能保留源语文化的异质成分这一结论。

Metaphor is not only a linguistic concept, but also takes on culture-specltlC teatures. After exptorlng me approaches and strategies in metaphor translation from the perspective of foreignization and domestication both at the linguistic level and at the cultural level, the paper reaches the conclusion that the strategy of domestication might go to a larger extent at the linguistic level to enhance readability while the strategy of foreignization might go to a larger degree at the cultural level to retain more foreign flavor of the original.
