摘要
拼缀构词是语义合成和语码截略的有机结合,兼具合成构词和截略构词的特点,是当代英语最具典型意义的构词方法。研究表明,拼缀构词的认知机制可归结为不同心理空间的概念融合。Fau-connier提出的概念融合理论不仅能够较好地解释拼缀词的意义构建过程,而且揭示出当代英语中大量涌现的类比词从认知机制上看其实也是拼缀构词的产物,显示出很强的解释力。
Blending, as a means of English word_formation flourishing in the 20~ th century, covers two major ways that contemporary English invents its new words, i.e. composition and shortening. In fact, it is a combination of semantic integration and clipping of linguistic signs. Turning to the Conceptual Blending Theory (CBT), this paper attempts to make a detailed research into the cognitive mechanism of blending words and finds that CBT can not only give a consistent and quite satisfactory explanation to the whole cognitive process of the formation of blending words, but also reveal that analogical words are products of blending in terms of cognitive mechanism, indicative of its strong theoretical explanatory force.
