In order to realize surveillance, recognition and acquisition for various types of data from objects or environment, sensors are linked to distributing information monitoring networks. Wireless sensor networks are the developing tend of intelligent sensors. Wireless sensor networks are novel network centralizing in data acquisition and data management, which are integration of sensor techniques, embedded computation techniques, distributed computation techniques and wireless communication techniques. The research of wireless sensor network nodes, wireless sensor networks and new development at present are introduced in this paper. The applications of wireless sensor networks are discussed and presented. Many countries are very interested in wireless sensor network because its wide application in the future.
