The Vowel Shift in Wenzhou(温州) Dialect During the Past Century

比较1893浙江温州方言和1989年的发音,可以发现温州方言在过去一百年间,韵母方面的变化很大,形成了一个非常有系统的元音推移。除了大规模的元音推移以外,有三个元音消失,但也有两个新的元音产生。这个速度是非常惊人的。整个现象应该受到历史语言学、方言学、语音和音位学的重视。

In this study, a comparison was made between Zhejiang（浙江） Province in 1893 and 1989.It is found the pronunciations of the Wenzhou（温州） dialect of that in the past century, there was an enormous change of the rimes,in which a systematic vowel shift was observed.Apart from the shift,three vowels have disappeared,but two new ones were also generated,This speed exceeds our expectations.This phenomenon should receive much attention from historical linguists,dialectologists and phonologists.
