Classic modernization theory believes that the modernization process is the transformation of the traditional agrarian society into industrial society. It began roughly with capitalism. A study of world modernization process and the development course of nationalism reveals that the two originated and developed almost simultaneously. In its origin, nationalism is part of the modernization process, and every stage of it has pushed modernization onto a new stage.
