Marguerite, as a black girl in a marginal group, is besieged in an artificial cage made of racial discrimination, sexism and identity negation. In the process of illegal theoretical switch, in which black equals to inferior human being, she undergoes the doubt and the resistance of black identity, and eventually, realizes the construction of black subjective identity by breaking through the cage.
