Regarding philosophy as useless can be traced back to the very origin of western philosophy; however, philosophy has its practicality. The practicality of Gadamer＇s philosophical hermeneutics is chiefly manifested in the following respects; it can justify humanities; it contributes to toleration; it criticizes scientific method and points out its limitation; it also criticizes the limitation of technology; and it explores the premise and essence of conversation.
