COPP:A Measurement Tool for End-to-End Available Bandwidth

摘要 本文描述一种可用带宽测量的新方法COPP。通过结合报文对与自拥塞原则,使得COPP在最低开销的情况下得到一个测量结果的代价仅为一组发送速率不断增大的报文对序列。本文详细讨论了COPP测量时间及范围等参数的设置,并分析了探测报文丢失及进程切换等异常情况的检测与处理。我们通过仿真实验分析了COPP的测量结果与开销;与其它方法的比较表明,COPP以较低开销得到了较优的测量结果。 This paper describes a novel active measurement tool called COPP to estimate end-to-end available bandwidth, The principle of introducing packet pair into self-induced congestion makes COPP obtain a measurement result, under the lowest overhead with an only cost of a sequence of packet pairs whose transmission rate is growing, We discussseveral issues about COPP in detail, such as the detection and response of probe packet loss and process switching We test COPP in several simulations and find that it provides relatively optimal estimates with fewer overhead compared to other estimation tools.
