湖南自修大学是中国共产党成立之后,全国第一所研究、传播马克思主义,培养革命干部的新型大学。她的问世,是毛泽东早期干部教育实践与教育思想的产物,是毛泽东教育思想形成和发展的重要组成部分,在中国新教育史上占有极为重要的地位。在新的世纪,学习与研究建党时期湖南自修大学的创办始末及其经验,不仅具有深远的历史意义,而且对于建设有中国特色的社会主义干部教育乃至于整个教育事业都具有重要的现实意义。

Hunan Self-study University is China＇ s first university which studied and spread Marxism and cultivated revolutionary cadres after the establishment of the Party. Its appearance, which is the product of Mao Zedong＇ s early practice and thoughts of cadre education and the important component of the formation and development of Mao Zedong＇ s education thoughts, plays an important rule in the history of Chinese education. Studying the establishing process and experience of Hunan Selfstudy University during the Party establishment period has not only profound historic meaning but also important realistic meaning to the China-socialism-characteristic cadre education and even the whole education cause.
