驴驴蒿是半荒漠草地的主要建群植物。骆驼、绵羊、山羊均喜食。研究表明,驴驴蒿入土较浅,根深为株高的4.55倍,侧根发达,根系重量为地上生物量的2.32倍。驴驴蒿单株根系平均重为118克,体积211.25立方厘米,总长度997.56米。在0～20厘米土层中根系重量占77.72％,体积75.74％。根系重量和体积在0～30厘米层以>2mm粗根占绝对优势,30厘米以下以<2mm的细根为主。
Artemisia dalailamae is a major species of the semi-desert vegetation in Gansu province. It is preferred in grazing by camels, sheep and goats. The study shows that the plant has a relatively shallow but well laterally developed root system. The depth and weight of the root are 4.55 and 2.32 times as much as the above-ground height and biomass respectively. An average root system of the plant has 118g of dried weight, 211.25cm^3 of volume and 997.56m of total length, with 77.72% of the root weight and 75.74% of the volume distributed in the soil layer of 0-20cm. Within the soil layer of 0-30cm the root system is domiated by roots larger than 2mm in diameter.
