１９９０年我国高碳铬轴承钢材产量达到６０．７７万ｔ，１９９４年达到５６．８３万在，基本满足了轴承行业的需要。１９９４年精炼钢的比例已达到６６．２３％，氧含量基本上降到了１５ｐｐｍ。具有较先进工艺的厂家，氧含量降到１０ｐｐｍ左右。
