The development, engineering and manufacture of final drives to comply with stringent demands regarding noise levels and mass are not possible without a profound knowledge and especially-experience of axle-mounted drives. With its latest SE 380 helical drive unit, Voith Turbo has succeeded not only in meeting such demands but even in exceeding them. The foundation for successful application in real trains is laid by extensive testing both with and without loads. In the final analysis, however, confirmation of the innovative design comes from the essential data recorded during tests on trains and the initial experience with series-produced rail vehicles.
