对《西游记》中的300多条俗语、谚言进行了归纳整理分析,认为《西游记》中的俗语、谚言设置有许多明显的特点：因人而设、语如其人,体现了人物性格特点和精神风貌；无论出自何人之口的俗语、谚言,皆富有哲理,同时体现了一种世俗化倾向,多具明代世俗社会的人情味；内容广泛,涉及社会人生诸多方面,表现出明代社会鲜明的时代特色和社会风气。俗语、谚言的运用形成了《西游记》文中语言生动幽默、活泼趣味、流畅滑稽、明快诙谐的喜剧风格,显示出浓郁的世俗化风气。

This paper investigates into the 300-odd slang and proverbs in A Journey to the West, holding that all of them are of striking characteristics. To be specific, they reflect the personality and spirit of the characters in the novel; they are all philosophical and reflect an extant orientation of the time; they cover a wide range of contents which reflect the social conventions and characteristics. The novelist＇s adept use of these slang and proverbs contribute to the novel＇s vivid brisk language and its comic style. They can be well regarded as the best expression of vogue of the time.
