Objective: To explore the diagnostic value of dual-modality positron emission tomographic-computed tomographic (PET/CT) imaging, as compared with that of CT alone in the diagnosis of NSCLC and metastasis. Materials and Methods: Fifty-six cases of lung cancer were proved by surgery, biopsy, pathology or follow-up. All cases were examined by PET/CT and CT. PET/CT images of all patients were analyzed and compared with CT scan. Results: In 56 cases, for lung primary lesion, the positive rate with PET/CT scan was 96.4%, and CT scan was 82.1%. And for the metastatic lesion, the positive rate was 100% and 80.5% respectively. It was statistically significant(P=0.008 and P〈0.001). Conclusion: PET/CT is superior to CT scan in the detection of primary lung lesions and metastasis. Integrated PET/CT becomes more widely available, it may become a new standard approach to imaging patients with lung cancer.
