我国高等院校校名英译探析

A Probe into the Translating of Names of Higher Learning Institutions in China

高等院校的校名作为学校品牌的主要载体,其价值是很高的。同样,高等院校的英文校名在对外科技文化交往中,其隐性价值也不容低估。文章拟对目前国内尚无人专门撰文讨论的高等院校的校名英译进行探讨,指出大学、学院、高等专科学校———不同规模性质的学校校名的英译处理原则,并提出了高等院校校名英译的一般性要求。

As the main carrier of a higher learning institution＇ brand value, the name of a higher learning institution is valuable. Similarly, the implied value of the English version of the name of a higher learning institution in international science and technology exchanges. This paper, is to probe into the translating of the names of higher learning institutions, putting forward the translating criteria for universities, institutes, and colleges. A general requirement for translating the names of higher learning institutions is offered in the end.
