修辞方法的巧妙运用可以使语言的表现更加丰富多彩,而要在英汉互译中把握各种修辞手法的运用,就应注意到不同历史、文化背景下英语的词语运用特征,使翻译既忠实于原文,又符合汉语表达习惯。翻译中应将英汉两种语言常用的修辞手法进行对比,利用各种手段,充分体现英汉语表达上的特点,避免中式英语的产生。

Figures of speech are used to give atmosphere to discourse and to provide vivid descriptions. When they are used in translation from English to Chinese and vice versa, different backgrounds of both languages in history and culture should be thought highly about for the sake of faithfulness and idiomatic expression of the target language. Proper means can be employed to avoid Chinglish in translation by comparing the figures of speech of the two languages.
