清丁晏《说文通说》平议

Remark on Shuowen Tongshuo of Ding Yan in Qing

丁晏是清代著名的学者之一,其对《说文》的研究不容忽视,由于其著作流传不广,在《说文》学史中罕有提及,这不能不说是《说文》学研究中的缺憾。《说文通说》是丁晏《说文》研究的重要著作之一,其阐释《说文》体例精审严谨;示例校勘,方法正确得当;揭示古今文字之变,条分缕析。《说文通说》是一部具有较高学术价值的《说文》学著作,应当引起《说文》学和古代文献学研究的关注。

Ding Yan was one of famous scholars in Qing, and his reseach on Shuowen was also a contribution not to be ignored. However , the narrow spread of his works and the little mention about the scholar in the history of Shuowen , has caused a pity in this field. Shuowen Tongshuo was one of Ding＇s important works with high academic value ： vigorous expiantions on the style of explanation of Shuowen , proper ways of illustration and collation , and detailed analysis about the change of chinese characters; and thus it should draw some attention from the circle of Shuowen and ancient documents study.
