受西方19世纪末颓废主义思潮的影响,颓废的心理情绪较广泛地存在于“五四”文学之中。文化传统的差异导致了中西“颓废”的差异。“五四”时期的颓废情绪不是西方颓废情绪的简单翻版,而是深深地带有本土文化心理特点,其在“五四”小说文本中的具体表现形态为:哀怨与飘零,苦闷与忧郁,孤独与绝望。

Influenced by the ideological trend of the decadent from Europe at the end of the 19th century,decadence became a universal feeling in literary works in the May 4 period.The different traditional cultures lead to the different decadence between Chinese and western literary works.The decadent emotion in the May 4 period shows its own cultural features,not a simple copy of the decadence of the west.Typical decadent features in the May 4 period in novels are: grief and going adrift;depressed mood and melancholy;solitude and despair.
