Study on the Origin and Evolution of Eulogy

对赞文起源的了解,很大程度取决于对其字义的认识。“赞”字在上古有五种含义,最基本的意义为“助”、“明”,其它皆其引申之义。汉代“赞”义增加,有“赞美”之义,这是赞文发生转变的重要因素。赞发源很早,五帝时代已经产生,以口头形式主要用于三方面:祭典重赞、臣赞明事、释理托赞,有一定的实用价值,主要起“辅助”、“说明”作用,这决定了古赞具有依附性。

To explore the origin of Eulogy depends on how to understand meaning of Eulogy to some extent. The character of ＂Zan＂ has five different meanings. Its basic meaning is assisting and illustrating, and others are extended meanings. In Han Dynasty, the character of ＂Zan＂ had one more the meaning of eulogizing,which was the main factor changed the Eulogy. The Eulogy came forth as early as Wudi age. In that age, verbal Eulogy was used in three aspects： fiesta, minister illustrating business and clarifying truth with eulogy. Ancient eulogy had some practical applications to assist and explain showing the ancient Eulogy＇s dependence,
