An Analysis on General Yang Hucheng and the Problem of the Northwest Semi-Independence Situation

西安事变前后,中共和张、杨曾谋划在西北构建某种“半独立化”局面,以作为未来对日抗战的战略基地,然终因时、事、势的变异而未获成功。其间,杨虎城以其在西北的特殊地位发挥了举足轻重的作用,尤其在西北善后处理问题上与中共的配合相得益彰,这也构成了杨与中共合作史上值得浓墨重书的一页。

Around the Xi＇an incident , CPC and General Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng had schemed to esatablish a semi-independence situation for a strategic base of the resistance against Japan in future. But this plan failed to materialize . During this period, General Yang Hucheng did give free sein to a decisive function with his special political position in the Northwest area of China, especially he and CPC did take concerteed action complement in Shaanxi and Gansu. These things certainly deserve to the thick described as a chapter of the history of General Yang Hucheng- CPC cooperation.
