Currently, there is a tide in the world to develop UUV. Especially US Navy has issued the UUV Master Plan to determine the missions of the UUV. UUV is becoming a new type of underwater operation platform as a particular operation power. It is concerned by all navies. This paper presents UUV＇s mission, function, and the key points in the US Navy UUV Master Plan, current UUV development state and main problems in the UUV tech in order to show it.
