Exploring the Current Situation of College English Teaching in Large Classes and Its Solutions

高校扩招,师资短缺,大班教学成为高校英语教学课堂模式的必然选择。分析我国高校英语大班教学的现状及挑战。并从合作学习,构建互助式的语言实践环境;明确课堂规范,注意座位编排,确保灵活有序的语言教学组织环境;丰富教学手段,营造趣味盎然的语言学习环境;大班教学中的个性化教学四个方面提出了解决的方法及对策。

Large class mode becomes an inevitable choice for teaching non-English majors in China as the result of college enrollment expansion and shortage of teacher resources. The current situation of English teaching in large non-English major classes in China and its challenges are analyzed. The solutions are also given from the perspectives of establishing cooperative-learning environment, setting up class routines and procedures, optimizing class desk-setting, diversifying teaching methods as well as individualizing instruction.
