The traditional western literature centered around male text and experience, in which women were often characterized as either angel or devil. In order to challenge the traditional stereotype of women and correct the distorted female image created by male writers, some women writers created the new female image to deconstruct the man - dominated tradition. The successful portrayal of the female images in Jane Eyre strongly awakened the female consciousness and set a fair typical example for women in their pursuing the equality with men in marriage and love.
