关羽读《春秋》背景刍议

Analysis of what was behind Guan Yu's reading The Spring and Autumn Annals

汉末三国时期,阅读《春秋》蔚然成风。许多政治家、军事家把《春秋》应用于社会政治、军事及其他领域,体现了古文经学经世致用的特点。关羽作为刘备政治集团中的重要成员,肩负着兴复汉室统一天下的历史使命,他是独当荆州一面的军事统帅,面临着北伐曹魏、处理与东吴关系等复杂而艰巨的任务,受社会风气的熏染,他熟读《春秋》是时代、社会使然,但其动机重在用《春秋》的历史经验为现实生活提供借鉴,指导军事活动和培养道德情操,而不在《春秋》学问本身。

Reading The Spring and Autumn Annals became a common practice the period of the Three Kingdoms in the late Han Dynasty. Many politicians and strategists applied it to political affairs, military affairs and other fields which showed the characteristics of applying classical learning to ruling the country. As an important member in Liu Bei Political Group, Guan Yu shouldered the historical mission of the rejuvenation of the Han Dynasty. He was a military commander in Jingzhou and was confronted with the complex and hard task of fighting The Kingdom of Wu. His reading The spring and Autumn Annals was affected by the social common practice. But his purpose was to take the historical experience in it for reference in reality life and apply it to guide military activities and cultivate moral sentiment.
