Coetzee, the Nobel prize winner in literature in 2003, takes South Africa as its background within an extremly special environment, uses the duplicate accent as the form, unfolds for us conflicting dialogue between different humanities in the clash of civilization. The author expresses his confusion in this novel with the survival of the human reality, discusses the serviceability of Western humanitarianism worldwide. Therefore the novel is deemed with its global significance.
