Prolactin(PRL) was isolated from the grass carp pituitary by alkalic extraction,affinity chromatography, gel filtration and ion-exchange chromatography. ELISA showed that grass carp prolactin (gcPRL) had some cross reaction with salmon PRL antiserum. No cross reaction with salmon GH antiserum was observed. The gcPRL had a molecular weight of 23 500 in SDSPAGE,and an isoelectric point of 7. 2 by gel electrofocusing.
