With the popular use of internet lately, the limited address space which is defined by IPv4 is going to be insufficient. This will place a negative impact on the industry of the internet. In addition, IPv4 has been proved to be a simple internet protocol without security concern, which may lead to a potential damage. In order to resolve this issue IETF has announced a new internet protocol, IPv6. This article discusses the new design structure, major improvement as well as the drawbacks and threats of IPv6.
